“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” – Mike Tyson
Visiting Las Vegas any time of the year can be overwhelming, the sights sounds, smells, and tastes can have your senses on overload. Add to that 40,000+ people, 2,000 break out sessions, hackathons, boot camps, and hands-on sessions, if you’re not prepared, the experience can leave you feeling like you stepped into the ring with Mike Tyson.
AWS re:Invent is easily one of the biggest cloud events of the year. Customers, partners, and developers all converge on Las Vegas to discover the latest services, features, cloud business trends, and technologies.
It’s important to understand ahead of time that there is so much going on, so it’s close to impossible to see and do everything you want. Like a kid in a candy store, you’ll want to see, touch, taste everything, but you’ll never get everything you want. The best way to maximize your re:Invent experience is to prepare a plan in advance. AWS does a great job of creating a helpful worksheet that will help manage your time and keep track of your priorities, who you want to connect with, and what you want to learn, including important NetApp activities.
Keep these key activities in mind as you create your re:Invent plan:
Welcome Reception: Monday 26 November 4:00 PM-7:00 PM
Expo hours are Tuesday 8:00 AM-6:00 PM, Wednesday 10:00 AM-6:00 PM, and Thursday 10:00 AM-4:00 PM.
The NetApp booth is #2437. Come by for product demonstrations, and mini-theater presentations on topics such as:
- NetApp Storage Solutions for AWS with Pete Kisich, AWS Partner Solutions Architect
- Speed up development and create Kubernetes clusters with ease
- Spanning the Multicloud with Istio, Kubernetes, and NetApp Kubernetes Service
- Advancing productivity in the cloud using file services
- Microsoft workloads on AWS with NetApp Cloud Volumes

You will never be at a loss for something to do and see at AWS re:Invent. Although it’s important to develop a plan before you arrive, I’ve learned that the plan will change the moment you step onto the re:Invent floor. Like taking that first punch from Mike Tyson, you’ll quickly reassess why you are there, your priorities and what you want to achieve. The value in preparing a plan is more along the lines of knowing your options, reacting quickly and being able to adjust your game plan when your senses are overloading.
Like Dwight D. Eisenhower famously said, “In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.”
